HOT AS HEL! is nine2five's CD compilation of Helsinki's dancefloor
jazz and nu-soul circles' brightest names. This EP release features
three tracks from the compilation.
Present Sense feat. Tuomo: "Nature Girl" - After releases for
Italy's Archive records among others, Present Sense have been
building up their production catalogue and have also evolved into a
6 piece live band going places at the
moment! On "Nature Girl" broken beats and sweet harmonies meet
vocalist Tuomo who's a producer and musician in his own right û
being the leading force behind the Gilles Peterson favourites The
Quintessence.
Katriina: "Spared Your Kiss" (DharmaOne Production) - A great
voice, a great track and classic soul/r&b production courtesy of
DharmaOne...what else could you need? Following in the footsteps of
her mother, the modelûturnedûsinger Katriina writes her own lyrics
and is heavily involved in the songwriting process as well. Dharma
One doesn't need introduction - after the runaway success of
ôBelongö heÆs now sharing his time between Manchester's Phuture
Lounge collective and homebase Helsinki. Look out for more material
from the Katriina & Dharmaone collaboration in near future !
J-City: "All You Give" - Juha Tuukkanen and Terhi Koivisto met in
Helsinki and gathered their experiences, influences
and musical ideas for quite some time. Juha discovered electronic
music at the age of 12, collaborating and networking with the
northern electronic scene and has since been releasing records
throughout Europe. Sessions with Terhi started to bear fruit last
year, with a diversity of moods and styles merged by brilliant
acoustic jazz, sweet electronics and an amazing voice. Now ready to
launch 2 projects, the deep down Spyritual has been signed to Kitty
Yo with an album forthcoming this fall, while nine2five has the
privilidge to present the more dancefloor friendly J-City output.
