Label alumni Volker Erman teamed up with Mumbai resident Priya
Sen, who is known for her vision to entertain, educate and be an
independent voice on music in the ever-evolving Indian scene. On
their joint ICONYC Noir debut they deliver the outstanding
'Silver Rain' featuring remixes from Yudi Watanabe & Juan Sapia.
Passionate about their mtier and adept in a variety of genres,
atmosphere is an integral component in Volkan Erman & Priya
Sen's production sound as progressive house, melodic techno and
deep house are closely tied to sensations ranging across the
spectrum from melancholy to delight. Rippling melodies trip
along a deep kick that anchors an auricular montage to create a
special sonic infused moment, accompanied by a refined synth
line that is going to leave a mark on your aural perception.
First up we welcome Yudi Watanabe on remix duty, who needs no
introduction and certainly knows a thing or two when it comes to
outstanding reworks: Yudi turned 'Silver Rain' into an
irresistible track by using the original elements on offer with
perfection. Yudi layers more melodies and effects, whilst upping
the flow with cleverly programmed percussion and his trademark
FX elements, without destroying the essence of the original.
Classy progressive house, as it was always intended.
Next up, we are excited to welcome back Juan Sapia on remix
duty. Juan who hails from Argentina and is known for his works
on Sudbeat, Plattenbank and Beat Boutique amongst others,
presents a musical affirmation, unified by a deep kick drum and
atmospheric emotion. His remix is a concoction of warm, deep
bass grooves, swirling pads, textured layers and stunning
effects. Clever synth phrases complete the picture and create a
rounded worked piece of art to see out his remix in style. His
rework deserves to be branded 'essential' in any sense of the
word.
Volkan & Priya deliver a beautiful track full of driving
electronica-soaked harmonies which come together to create a
structured sphere of sonic geniality. A wonderful release for
the ages and a wonderful way to move into summer in style.
