Part of the Fall Particles 2019, Julian Nates now returns with
Luminism, reprising the original track and adding the
delightful, Renaissance. Remixes come from UK and UAE stars.
From Cordoba, Julian Nates has forged a name for himself from
his home in central Argentina. An accomplished pianist and
violinist in early years, he reached a professional standard in
drums after studying at the acclaimed music conservatory in his
hometown. A switch to electronic music quickly saw success with
over a century of production credits and releases on Balkan
Connection, Soundteller and Nick Warren's The Soundgarden.
Adding to the light melodic overtones of Luminism, partner tack,
Renaissance is full of the impressive musical sensibilities of
the title track as off-beat shakers and intelligent clave
percussion pave the way for a syncopated arpeggio to trip
delicately across the mid-range. Building with ease, further
arpeggiated sequences entwine and evolve as richly textured pads
pulsate gently in waves before coming to the fore in a
stripped-back breakdown. Hitting its stride, all elements
combine once more in a sparkling second half to impressive
effect.
A growing force since early production work for Clinique
Recordings in late 2016 and early 2017, Imran Khan's career has
continued to gather pace at an impressive rate. Through an
unquenchable thirst for knowledge and developing his production
technique, the UK artist's portfolio has continued to find him a
sea of admirers with over 100 credits for the likes of MNL,
Astrowave and Superordinate Music. The Organik and Sunsweat EPs
were notable 2019 highlights for Proton Music, while Arrival was
a Particles highlight in August 2018 including remixes from
Kamilo Sanclemente and Dabeat and Hot TuneiK. Reworking the
title track, the trademark percussive phrase of Luminism opens
proceedings alongside an intricate groove carved by Imran Khan.
New motifs shine through as Khan's production talent is in full
evidence with a plethora of new production material that takes
the essence of the original and takes it on a new sonic voyage
of discovery. Over its 10-minute duration, layers of sound melt
into the complex rhythmic structure to create another high-class
sonic interpretation.
A renowned DJ across the Middle East, Ejaz Ahamed has found
success with his support slots for Digweed, Cattaneo, Zabiela
and a host of others. In tandem a production career has
continued to showcase the Dubai resident's skill with a clutch
of growing releases for the likes of Stellar Fountain, PHW
Elements and Darin Epsilon's Perspectives Digital. A pair of
remixes for Jero Nougues and Sam Heyman saw an opening salvo for
Particles in mid-2017 and 2018 and it is a pleasure to welcome
the Indian born artist back for a third outing. Taking on
Renaissance, the Ejaz Ahamed remix revels in cascading bassline
prowess that pays tribute to Nates' original with its
intelligent use of central arpeggio that is transformed and
developed in innovative new fashion alongside a chorus of new
production work. Cast within a strong and dynamic new rhythmic
framework, the resultant interpretation is an impressive affair.
New music from Julian Nates plus remixes from Imran Khan and
Ejaz Ahamed paints Luminism with a bright new sonic palette.
