█ Night's heart, a pale-faced gallop through the █
█ emotional tribulations of four young New Yorkers. █

█ Despite not exactly pledging allegiance to the united █
█ states of new-wave, the blurry, blustery "House of █
█ Cats" and "The Temp" err on the side of Les Savy █
█ Fav's soft-focus art-pop, with bounding basslines and █
█ plate glass guitars gently keeping lead █
█ singer/guitarist Jarvis Taverniere's brittle literary █
█ lyricisms afloat. "Christmas isn't Christmas" is █
█ pitched on an adjunct cadence and stuttering █
█ razorwire guitars, and "Wounded Knee" scrapes by on █
█ bile and leftover adrenaline. █

█ Shunning the zeitgeist's current heroes paints █
█ Meneguar into an uncomfortable corner. Their music █
█ isn't exactly distinctive to begin with, and while █
█ not fitting in works well some of the time, I Was █
█ Born at Night's racket is unlikely to elicit much █
