- NOTES
A pure voice that combines fire and soul, songstress and
songwriter Candis Francis has been gaining attention
nationwide and from international music industry
professionals and fans. The popularity of her interactive
artist website, www.candisfrancis.com, and single "Not May
(I Hate You)" sparked opportunity for the young singerÆs
first European tour which took place last Summer in 2005.
The tour spotlighted CandisÆ dynamic live vocal ability
and included dates in the Netherlands, Germany, and Italy.
The young chanteuse began honing her craft at the age of
12. Candis Francis is an accomplished songwriter and vocal
producer with a strong, sensual voice. Born in Toronto,
Canada, sheÆs lived everywhere from Jamaica to Vancouver
to New York and Los Angeles. CandisÆ worldly travel and
cultural exposure have helped her perfect a soulful sound
infused with thumping drum beats, vibrant hip hop rhythms,
and plush vocals that fit as easily into ballads as they
do dance tracks.
On stage, Candis delivers a powerful performance. Many
first notice her exotic beauty of mixed Jamaican and
Algonquin heritage, but a quick listen reveals lyrics
about relationships, love, hope, and loss that Candis
sings with captivating emotion and theatrics.
The music industry quickly took notice and Candis has
consequently collaborated with some of the most-respected
artists in Hip Hop/R&B including Cypress Hill, producer
Dave Aaron (who worked with Snoop Dog), Yonny (LÆil
WayneÆs Album), and songwriter Storm whoÆs contributed to
tracks for mega-sensation Usher. Candis even got
recognition from super-producer Kanye West, who gave her
beauty and talent a lyrical nod in the song "Get em High."
With her single "Not May," Candis gained great new fans on
BET TelevisionÆs show THE NEXT, Much Vibe, The Box, Make
It or Break It, Etc. and myriad website portals. "Not May"
is the first video released for Candis on Chey B Records
and the next release ôAll Nightö has just been slowly
leaked with an overwhelming response from DJÆs and fans
alike. Radio has just begun interviewing Candis Francis
about her upcoming album ôAll Nightö. Chey B will release
her full-album in April 2006. The album will feature
CandisÆ signature smoke and honey vocals, rich musical
style, and sultry poeticism.
A visit to CandisÆ website can provide a decadent sneak
peek of the artistÆs ever-evolving talent. Listeners will
experience her range of mid-tempo, beat-driven tracks like
"Kash Baby" and "All Night" as well as rich ballads
infused with chilled synths and sweeping chords displayed
in songs such as "Gone Wrong."
