│ girlfriends." - URB │
│ │
│ │
│ If you picked up and enjoyed the fluidly scatterbrained genius │
│ of Caps & Jones' first tape (one of my favorites), prepare │
│ yourself for a trip directly to Crazytown. They're basically │
│ the nicest dudes ever, and they work music in a "let's test the │
│ limits of Final Scratch technology versus human beings' │
│ tolerance for postmodernism" sort of way, except not at all │
│ corny. The mixing style is hard to pin down, but it's pretty │
│ ADD (every song gets about 30 seconds of airtime), which │
│ explains how they can go from Eric B & Rakim to Television to │
│ Ultramag without missing a beat. When I first heard it, the │
│ chaos was overwhelming and I had to pause it and have a │
│ cigarette, question my fundamental notions of identity, etc. │
│ The second time I heard it I hated it. The third time I heard │
│ it, I loved the shit out of it. And now when I hear │
│ "Supersonic," I think the Smashing Pumpkins are coming up next. │
│ Only the best mixtapes can make you do that. Recommended. │
│ │
│ │
│ NOT A BOOTLEG: │
│ Artist in dirname made and sell the disc, I not claiming this │
│ is by or about any of the artists IN the mix. │
│ They have no label and pressed this shit themselves. thx │
