Continuing in the tradition of the finest in West Coast house music?
Om presents a new EP from Jacksonville's PC Synergy. PCS consists of
Phil Green and Scott Peterson (AKA DJ Catharsis), who are probably
most well known for their releases on Imperial Dub. In addition,
they have also done projects for Robsoul Recordings, Drenched,
Agave, Soulstar, & Grab... just to name a few. Here Scott & Phil
bring the deep soulful vibe of "Puttin' It Out There," featuring
the moody vocal stylings of Patrick Evans of the band Aerial Tribe.
The original vocal is a bit of a slow-groover, with organic percussion,
funk guitar licks, and a smooth bass line. Up next comes the dub..
funkin it up a hair with a walking bass line and just a touch of the
vocal samples. Flip over for a mix from the mysterious Southern Son,
who aims more towards the dancefloor with his minimal funker. Beefin'
up the bass lines, adding synth washes, and using all of the full vocal.
Finally, PC Synergy offer their B-Side complement, in the form of
"Tuff Love," which reminds us of the heyday of Worship Recordings.
Minimal beats, a monster sub-bass line, ragga samples, and lots of
dubbed-out effects. Quite a nice package we think.. but hey, we're
just puttin' it out there!
