The rhythm and music ensemble was founded in the year 2000 in
Helsinki, Finland. Thanks to a stroke of luck and close family
relations the guys were invited to record a few songs at the all
vintage recording facilities known as Up and Running studios in
Stockholm, Sweden. The producer Tom Hakava did a splendid job at
bringing individuality to the songs Bad Hair Day and My Dear Beloved
and in the process helping the band in finding important guidelines
for the future.
The sound of the band evolved into a hybrid of smooth and mellow tones
of 60s psychedelia and modern indie rock. The tracks came out sounding
like the group had travelled in time and found the retro appeal at
Abbey Road studios in 1966-67 all thanks to Tom and his 16-track
studio.
In 2001 and 2002 the band returned to work with Tom on what would
become the classy sounding EP Le Monde Bizarre(2003). The EP was
unfairly neglected by the music-press in Finland and has been one of
the best kept secrets of high-quality independent first releases in
Finland. In spring of 2004, the band released the harsher sounding but
maybe more experimental EP Sometimes ...La La La. The 4-track CD was
entirely self-produced and pressed in a very limited edition. It is
very hard to find today.
The Scaramangas has continued to work with mr. Hakava who produced the
bands first full-lenght album All Is Good Now. The album features a
guest appearance by Juhana Lahtinen of Boys Of Scandinavia and the
first single Eight And A Half has been remixed by Teemu MetsΣlΣ of
ROGER.
