The latest compilation from the Label PottHeadz presents, what was
to be expected, broken beats. As you can see from the subtitle, the
influence of the newest variety of modern dance music - "Two Step"
- has left its mark on some PottHeadz producers. So "Off Beat"
offers you an arrangement of unusual tracks between Electro,
Nu-Jazz and Two Step. The producers descended all from Germany
biggest accumulation of urban settlements - the "Ruhrgebiet" and
from the biggest metropolis- Berlin. No question, here you find
creative potential on any street corner. So we welcome the three
guys from Fab Factory (Berlin) as the newest entry in the PottHeadz
rooster. Two of them are member of the Elektronauten, who
celebrate, after the end of their former label incoming!, on "Off
Beat" with "Super Funky Show", their comeback in Germany, while
they are releasing successfully as Electronauts on the British
label La Cerba, right now. And also Impulse get in touch again,
after their 1999 album "With a Lot of Music and All Songs" (Studio
!K7), with the Electro- Two Step- Crossover "Play That Game". The
project Ochos Rios should be mentioned here, too. Behind this name
nobody less is concealed than Matthew Boone. Here he shows, that he
can apart from straight house beats also tinker with bent beats.
Old fellows like Max Mars, Overdub System, Digital Jockey- remixed
by Berry Black and Stauth are of course represented here, too. The
whole is by the way opened in 7/8 time from Organism, the solo
project of Curt Nolte, one half of Four Ears, who round of with the
Jazz Stepper "The Moo".
