Circles & Stones release their second EP ôThe Echo of Usö by the talented
Dutch duo Huminal.
The 3-track journey is in itself a wonderland of sounds and details to
discover, and gives us a glimpse of the full range of their magic: from
gentle melancholia to driving deepness to simple melodic sonic worlds, all
the while telling three individual stories. This is an EP that showcases
their signature elegance and flair in sound design, which is influenced by
their love for cinematic film scores and vivid soundscapes full of aural
art.
The title bearing opener ôThe Echo of Usö, named aptly to ôechoö the
immense fun they had during the production process, was born into existence
in a moment of musical release, jamming and letting creativity flow free.
The result is this beautiful track: if you listen closely you can hear the
sound of water dripping in a cave and embedded in an array of unique
sounds, percussive elements and a distinct groove that gently cradles its
counterparts.
It is followed by ôLimbotic Stateö, a track that echoes the complexity and
pushing drive of HuminalÆs signature touch and is destined to be a burner
on the dance floor. It resembles that feeling when you are dreaming heavily
and believe in everything that happens around you, no matter how strange, a
dream state that the artists themselves were in when creating this track.
ôRubatosisö was born out of simplicity. In trying to move away from their
usual modus operandi, Huminal first wrote the tracks only with sine waves
in order to focus more on a new type of melody. The end result is a
wonderful venture ôout of the boxö, and one that is easily accessible for
all ears; whether itÆs electronic pros, DJs or home listeners.
Above all, this is an EP destined for all those who want to immerse
themselves in gripping sonic stories.
