Mr. Brubaker is the moody motherfucker who lives downstairs.
You've never seen his face, as whenever he steps out of his
cavernous abode - and never before dusk - he is swathed in
layers of throbbing atmospheric breaks and crunchy acid stabs,
swelling electronic symphonies and discordant hip-shuffling
rhythms.
Often, you wonder of his occupation as strange smells,
sometimes sweet and sometimes noxious, rise from between
the floorboards, sending you into the world of Mr. Brubaker's
imagination... a world where samplers chew on liquorice
drumlicks, gramophone gris-gris for the twenty-thirst century.
Following on from 15 Levels of Magnification, the slinky
scientiste Riz Maslen continues to to pull you into the nether
regions of Neotropic. This is the soundtrack to the epic journey
of a lost school of stickle-back whales as they search for their
home, 20,000 leagues under the petro-chemically laced ocean.
Riz has recently completed a gruelling tour of America, where
she managed a Krypton factor of 9.999 by sharing a tour-bus
with the likes of Chocolate Weasel, without even breaking
sweat.
Riz is inspired by male divas in technocoloured dreamcoats,
mutants in braces and anything darker than black.
