This is a 2002 repress of Aril Brikha's debut album "Deeparture in
time" (TMTCD6) originaly released mid 1999. This releases however
includes both new tracks, and old tracks from the 1st edition.
1999 (TMTCD6) review:
There is a certain lulling calm that makes the techno sounds of
Aril Brikha's debut album special. While many artists such as I-F
and Luke Slater have released excellent full-length techno albums
drawing from the electro sounds of the 1980s, Brikha's version of
electro doesn't rely on body-rocking beats or nostalgia to be
effective. The repetitive drum programming that flows through each
of the tracks on Deeparture in Time has been done before, but what
makes the album so impressive is the way Brikha uses the sounds of
his synthesizer to transcend generic electro.
Instead of using synthesizer sounds and melodies to complement his
beats and rhythms, Brikha's synthesizer exists prominently in each
of his tracks, often overshadowing the percussive beats with its
cosmic sounds. When one listens closely, Brikha's formula is rather
simple. By using the synthesizer to complicate and further push the
rhythms of his drum programming, the synergy is more striking than
the sum of the two parts. --allmusic.com
