Founding member of the A Band, Sunroof, and Vibracathedral
Orchestra, Campbell has been a stalwart in the British
campaign for tinnitus alongside Matthew Bower and Simon
Wickham-Smith. "Itinerant String Section" certainly falls into
the catagory of amorphous gritty tonal screeches recorded with
questionably wired equipment. The first track is dominated by
a backing tape of one of the more noxious examples of
shortwave radio jamming upon a morse code numbers station. Top
it all off with Campbell scraping a rusty can across his
pick-ups and some cheap effects boxes, and the result is some
fine noise / grate / drone work.
