| Benny The Butcher has made a name for himself along with the rest |
| of his acclaimed Griselda crew for bringing a sense of danger back |
| to underground hip-hop. Alongside classic boom-bap production, |
| Benny is a consummate practitioner of truly gritty and grimey |
| street rap, coming from places of drug wars, shoot-em-ups, and |
| urban hell. |

| Though Benny The Butcher and the rest of Griselda are boom-bap |
| practitioners first, this is not to suggest that was always the |
| case, or even that he would not be open to sound experimentation. |
| Take Benny's 2016's 1 On A 1, which recasts his usual threads of |
| city bleakness against comparatively contemporary trap beats. It's |
| a well that Benny wouldn't return to, and stands out as a |
| remarkably solid oddity in the Butcher's catalogue, featuring guest |
