Styrofoam Duck formed in May '04, shortly after Dan Ciernia and
Benjamin Brockway met at the legendary, but now defunct, Haunted
House in St. Paul, Mn. Between September '04 & May '05, they
played 22 shows at various musical venues around the Twin Cities
as well as Milwaukee, Chicago, and Madison. A majority of the
early Styrofoam Duck shows featured a 7 foot tall conceptual art
piece called "Styrofoam Duck", who was a self-proclaimed "avant
garde stand-up comedian". Styrofoam Duck, the physical conceptual
art piece, played his last show with the band on April 7th, 2006
at Big V's in St. Paul, MN. His place has recently been filled by
Jason Fox from Hello Blue, who instead of telling jokes, will
administer low-end frequencies to the band's live presentation.
The new Styrofoam Duck three-piece dynamic debuted on May 12th,
2006 at The Hexagon Bar in Minneapolis where they also released
this collection of new recordings entitled, "Emergency's Only
Friend".
