        :: Release Notes:
        ::
        :: On From Boppin' Hillbilly To Red Hot Rockabilly you'll
        :: witness the birth of some of the forefathers of rock 'n'
        :: roll...Carl Perkins renowned for incredible "live" shows and
        :: great songwriting...Carl Smith one of country's biggest
        :: hit-makers...Marty Robbins early in his illustrious career
        :: and, of course, Elvis Presley, the all-time King of rock 'n'
        :: roll who influenced everyone. Here are the roots of rock,
        :: pop, modern country that paved the way for today's sound.
        :: This 118 track compilation showcases how the livelier
        :: examples of roots country music - traditionally sidelined by
        :: the establishment as 'Hillbilly' - influenced younger
        :: performers, and so attracted an expanding youth market with a
        :: brasher form of delivery that would become known as
        :: 'Rockabilly'. Few (if any!) of these recordings were Pop
        :: chart hits but there is an aggressive intensity in many, and
        :: a joyous flippancy about others, that retrospectively shows
        :: them all to have been an integral part of the 1950s frisson
        :: between old values and new perspectives. From the likes of
        :: Hardrock Gunter and Johnny Hicks in 1951 it's a
        :: roller-coaster ride to Elvis Presley and Carl Perkins in
        :: 1955. Each and every one of the 118 songs included here is a
        :: bona fide standard that should be the cornerstone of any
        :: music collection. A fantastic set of nostalgia and
        :: rediscovery that's an absolute must for every dedicated rock
        ::  fan everywhere.
