Jimmy Woo One is the brilliant, new urban mix album presented by the
nightclub where it all goes down. Jimmy Woo, hot-spot and favorite
Amsterdam hang-out for Justin & Cameron, Brad & Angelina, Pharrell,
George Clooney, 50-Cent and Britney Spears.
Jimmy Woo One
Recently a cd arrived on Jimmy WooÆs doormat accompanied by only a
card saying: "With compliments, Mr. Woo". The disc was played
straight away and impressed by the musical surprises it had to offer
it was decided that this album deserved an official release. Not much
later Jimmy Woo One was born.
Literally everything is right about this album. From the sexy warm
bath track at the start, to the tropical surprises in the middle, to
the extremely happy ending. An album that will be played over and
over. The steaming urban mix is perfectly balanced; something old,
something new, something borrowed, something blue.
Tracks from Will.I.Am, Kid Sublime, Plantlife, Outkast, Only Child
feat. Amp Fiddler, Omar and many more are all phunky as phuck and
smooth as crΦme brulΘe! Besides pushing the bass bins in your car to
the limit, Jimmy Woo One is also very suitable for your own private
After Party. ItÆs up to you how private you want to keep itàjust let
the Cris and the Mo flowà
But itÆs not only the music thatÆs mind blowing. The packaging
certainly deserves extra attention: A pitch black digi-pack decorated
with Chinese characters and a white bellyband. The result is chique,
mysterious, cool and above all very striking. A real collectorÆs
item!!!
Jimmy Woo: man or myth?
Hailing from Hong Kong, this well-heeled globetrotter is a regular
visitor to Amsterdam. So infatuated with the city, he decided to open
a club there. This nightclub combines the knowledge of and his love
for Asian art with refined feel for the latest trends in music and
design.
Jimmy Woo loves exuberance, but also loves privacy. A preference
which designer Eric Kuster has incorporated in the club's interior,
combining them with provocative images by controversial Japanese
photographer Araki. The gold leaf, the varnished black walls, the
Japanese temple lamps and even a genuine Chinese opium bed, more than
a century old, remind of the closing scene of the film Once Upon a
Time in America.
But Jimmy Woo also sets new standards for 21st-century nightlife with
the very best sound technology and a fascinating illuminated ceiling
featuring more than 12,000 lights.
While naturally retaining its signature quality, that refined feel
for the latest trends in music and design, in its second year Jimmy
Woo is moving towards a more sophisticated, more distinctive and on
some nights more underground programming. From urban to live acts,
house to eclectic: every night has its own clear identity. But above
all it always remains purely and totally Jimmy Woo.
