This is quite a pleasant surprise; field recordings blended
with instrumental forward thinking indie... and it works a
treat.
There is a positively cinematic outlook on æKarlshorstÆ
which is urging me to say æpost-rockÆ and although
æKarlshorstÆ could quite easily sit next to your Godspeed
collection, it has far more in common with a band like
SwedenÆs Tape, which is a very good thing to these ears.
Gorgeously recorded instruments are bolstered by the most
subtle electronic percussion and the arrangements
themselves are so measured and well timed that itÆs
impossible not to get sucked into KinnÆs world. Tracks such
as the ten-minute epic æLunteÆ and the albumÆs closer
æLakaraÆ are delicate beauties which would sound perfect as
the soundtrack to an independent American film, maybe
something slightly surreal, but with enough hope and
triumph to leave you with a smile on your face.
Recommendation for post rock fans who want to dig a little
deeper...
