Nathan Nice sparked early. The OG KDAY radio signal was so close to his
house, he could literally hear beats playing from his phone and echoing out
the storm drains on Alvarado! In the summer of '89, Eric B. and Rakim came
onto his friendÆs small clock-radio and he remembers that as the precise
moment he went from casual listener to full fledged fiend. He blasted the
volume and soaked every word, every drum. That sample-driven classic boom
bap didn't erase, but it definitely overpowered any previous musical
interests. With a knack for words and great respect for storytelling
already in place, it didn't take much for him to start fitting together his
own rhymes.
Nathan Nice is an Echo Park, Los Angeles native. The son of a politically
active, inner-city science teacher and a fine artist, he possesses strong
skills both as lyricist and graphic designer. Unsigned/Independent, he pens
ALL of his own lyrics and designs each of his self-released products. Over
the last ten years, he has performed live shows throughout LA, featured on
a few albums and was a member of the now mythic FutuRelics Crew (R.I.P.).
A younger Nathan Nice can be heard all over their 1998, limited run/
cassette-only release, "Out of Context".
"Ain't Nathan Nice"is his first solo album and features veteran Los Angeles
hip-hop pioneer Xololanxinxo (O.M.D./Project Blowed/Toca) as well as Nozama
and Deejay Pudge Emcee (The Vinyl Junkies Crew), DJ Troma One (Speakers
Union/Gershwin B.L.X.), Brontosaurus (killin' on the beats), Farce One
(F.O.G.), Manwerk Mystery School (reppinÆ the bay), Devin 17 (Texan
