On spool [#2], Anthony's second solo album, contact
microphones, pedal samplers and a minimal effects setup are
used to amplify and distort the regular and tangential sounds
of the electric guitar: the pops and crackles of wood, metal
and cables form spacious webs of micro-activity; wires are
coaxed into action and resonate endlessly; feedback and hum
loop into delicate passages. Occasionally matched against
additional instrumentation, these sounds are arranged into
electronic compositions that reveal a strong sense of
simplicity, repetition, space and beauty.
