         █░█    Do not adjust your set. For while the most         █░█
         █░█    logical explanation for the curious melange of     █░█
         █░█    rhythm and melody emanating from your musical      █░█
         █░█    apparatus may appear to be an infestation of       █░█
         █░█    insects, the culprits are in fact human; one and   █░█
         █░█    all. This delicious blend of thumb piano, viola    █░█
         █░█    da gamba and melodica may sound as though it's     █░█
         █░█    orchestrated by a chamber ensemble of centipede,   █░█
         █░█    daddy long-legs, grasshopper and locust, but it's  █░█
         █░█    actually the work of Copenhagen-based              █░█
         █░█    multi-instrumentalist Marc Kellaway and his        █░█
         █░█    cohorts, otherwise known as The Cat Box Quartet.   █░█
         █░█    Further references for rough sketching: toy        █░█
         █░█    gamelan, spaghetti ambient, Kim Hiorth°y, Sack &   █░█
         █░█    Blumm, early Mouse on Mars, Graeme Revell's        █░█
         █░█    Insect Musicians, Becker & Bates at their most     █░█
         █░█    pastoral/psychedelic.                              █░█
         █░█                                                       █░█
         █░█    The warm, organic sounds of the CBQ evolved from   █░█
         █░█    an electronic project of Kellaway's called Mox,    █░█
         █░█    as Marc found himself incorporating recordings of  █░█
         █░█    his other bands (among others: experimental rock   █░█
         █░█    group Vinyl Dog Joy and improv outfit The          █░█
         █░█    President's Heart) into his "solo" work. After a   █░█
         █░█    series of limited CDR releases, "Running Uphill"   █░█
         █░█    is the first "official" album from The Cat Box     █░█
         █░█    Quartet and the first entirely instrumental        █░█
         █░█    release on the left field pop imprint Radio        █░█
         █░█    Khartoum.                                          █░█
         █░█                                                       █░█
         █░█    Those looking for comparisons may nod towards the  █░█
         █░█    childlike, ambient textures of Iceland's Mum or    █░█
         █░█    towards Kieren Hebden's work with Four Tet and     █░█
         █░█    Fridge, but The Cat Box Quartet's fusion of        █░█
         █░█    magnified sounds and lazy melody is distinctly     █░█
         █░█    their own, a comforting sonic blanket woven from   █░█
         █░█    organic fibers. In the words which Marc sent to    █░█
         █░█    Radio Khartoum with his first demo (and which a    █░█
         █░█    certain Swedish label subsequently discovered on   █░█
         █░█    the RK website), the CBQ is "friendly noise with   █░█
         █░█    a lot of melodica."                                █░█

         █░█    Other recent/current Kellaway projects include     █░█
         █░█    the score to Sabine Ravn's animated short "Bernie  █░█
         █░█    & Bongo" (currently making its way through the     █░█
         █░█    Euro film festival circuit); the electronic        █░█
         █░█    project Exquisite Russian Brides (performing in    █░█
         █░█    the Copenhagen Jazz Festival this July); and       █░█
         █░█    "Queen of Hope," the debut album by Jacob          █░█
         █░█    Faurholt & Sweetie Pie Wilbur, which Kellaway      █░█
         █░█    produced.                                          █░█
