Release Notes:
City Squirrel, who used be called The Joys until
recently, consists of Stephan and Stephanie Bayley,
formerly of Wilmington NCs Hungry Mind Review and
this is their debut on a specially made 11 song CD-
R. Storm was recorded in their house and then taken
to Mitch Easters studio, where he played bass and
then mixed the songs over the course of three days.
The result is uniquely stunning piece of work
revealing the simple, special beauty of a husband
and wife working together creating compassionate
songs of skin-pricking intimacy. The rich, highly
nuanced layers of acoustic warmth flow over stellar
arrangements which incorporate viola, Hammond organ,
12 stringed acoustic guitar. It`s always patient,
never in a hurry to rush to force a big pay-off
chorus, letting the song develop on its own, letting
it strike an emotional, under-stated resonant chord.
A easily accessible, yet unique type of offering
with no downsides. Extremely Highly Recommended.
