:: Release Notes:
::
:: Due out on July 11, the new full length by Alcian Blue is one
:: hell of a record set to detonate like an atomic bomb. From the
:: opening song Horizons, which builds and builds into exploding
:: walls of guitars and synths, to the apocalyptic ending of
:: Terminal Escape and everything in between; one thing is quite
:: certain these guys know a thing or two about writing damn good
:: pop songs.
::
:: Self recording in their basement studio, Alcian often look beyond
:: the States for influences including the wonderful pop from
:: Swedens Labrador records, the guitar warmth of Londons AC30
:: bands, and Southeast Asia where bands rekindle the beauty of
:: early Creation records. While previous recordings highlighted
:: more direct influences from the early 90s shoegaze sound, this
:: record has traces of a catalog of genres blending together to
:: create a realm that is very much their own. When it came time to
:: master the record, they got in touch with the one guy in DC who
:: knew how to handle their sound, Archie Moore who pushed pop
:: boundries in his days with Black Tambourine and later forming the
:: pure pop genius of Velocity Girl.
::
:: Songs like You Just Disappear and Night Sky conjure up all the
:: wonderful feelings you got when you first picked up The Head on
:: the Door or Violator for the first time, while songs like Frozen
:: Sleep and This Day This Age assault your ears in total blissed
:: out glory. From reviews referencing them to Joy Division, Depeche
:: Mode, and Interpol, to delivering a live show that easily kicks
:: the recordings up 10 notches this CD should be on everyones
:: must-have list for 2006.
