Even the liner notes on the CD release are spotty at best. All of the
information I could find is that the song "Crazy Horses" was well liked
by Donny Osmond and featured on his television show. Though a positive
review by Osmond doesn't exactly boost one's metal credibility, this
album is really a lost gem.
Quite an original release, I've never heard an album that sounds at all
like it. The first three tracks alone were worth tracking the album
down, in particular "Metal Ships" which would be a standout track on any
band's album, but features inventive guitarwork and a very unique sound.
Vocalist Sine Ryka is master of the craft, holding the album together
and putting forth a legendary performance. Any band would be delighted
to feature such a versatile and talented performer. Eric the Bastard is
an excellent guitar player, and Peter Chichon (looking much like Paul
Stanley in his album photo) and Alan Fish are certainly no slouches
either.
The album's production gives it a very warm and atmospheric sound, and a
definite reference point to any band looking to make their album sound
like it was broadcast from a distant star.
Most likely a victim of poor distribution, lack of promotion and the
obvious numbers game, with some exposure this band could have been
mentioned with the greats of English metal. As it stands, this album is
well worth tracking down if you've heard the scratchy real audio files
on Steve Cannon's Vibrations of Doom website. My ranking would have been
higher for this album if all of the songs maintained the same energy as
the first few, but are by no measure bad songs. This album deserves a
second look by any dedicated metal fan, and has a high replay value.
