SetSquare, quick to follow up his recent CR20xx collection, adds a new
set with a diverse range of moods and sounds, this time reaching even
deeper into the realms of synthwave and cinematic synth soundtrack
music.
'GhostFish: as the first song written for this album, it casts a
shadow over everything that came after. With its ominous bass hits,
and John Carpenter inspired sequence, GhostFish meanders through the
fog... and into the light.
Drexil's Lift: a dark growling synth movement sets the tone, as an
arpeggiated sequence and 4 on the floor kicks slowly take over, to
propel things into a climatic ending.
The Hawker Pt. 1 & 2: part travelogue, part ambient drone, these two
things collide in a distorted, uneasy mess.
Mondegreen: a broken beat anchors layers of spacey synth bursts, and a
haunting 3 note melody.
Kalimbra: along with a bunch of warbling synth flourishes, multiple
subtle time signature changes hi-light this ode to early techno.
