Unique glacial baritone murder ballads, historical narratives,
epic post-rockisms from UK train conductors on a mission.
Talitres (TAL027CD)
"While the singer delivers his baritone murder ballads, the
instruments cascade, explode and create a genuinely
uncomfortable atmosphere with their epic post-rockisms.
Frankly genius is an understatement." // NME
"Iliketrains stand firmly and gloriously out of place in a
country full of haircuts. More Heart, soul and dynamics than
the whole of the indie top 40 put together" // Drowned In
Sound
ILIKETRAINS met in the Northern Transport Hub of Leeds in the
Spring of 2003. Windswept platforms provide the inspiration
and a love of music that is progressively English and
glacially Icelandic holds them together.
Following their debut single "Before The Curtains Close" and
their second "A Rook House For Bobby" (a tale depicitng the
life of Bobby Fischer, the troubled chess grandmaster), the
debut album "Progress - Reform" charts the bandÆs unique,
beautiful sounds and rousing songs, brimming with exceptional
characters and historical events.
Iliketrains have consistently attracted English press acclaim.
"A Rook House For Bobby" was described by RoomThirteen.com as
"an unequivocal masterpice" and by Sandman as "nothing short
of phenomenal". Big words. And all true.
Their live shows see the band dressed in matching British Rail
uniforms playing to a film backdrop of trains, snow and chess,
running from their antiquated projectors. Word of mouth has
led to an ever increasing loyal following of RAILCARD HOLDERS
who are now coming from all over Europe to see them.
