        The past few years have seen Owen Jay's Batti Batti label really       
      establish itself as a physical concern, having first emerged in the      
       digital realm in 2009. The split release focus of Batti Batti has       
       served it well so far, so it's little surprise to find the label's      
      first of the year, Tribal Roots, draws for cuts from three different     
        production units. Jay opens proceedings with his fellow Maltese        
      producer Melchior Sultana whose 'Tribal Roots' is augmented well by      
       the percussive talents of Antoine. Further Batti Batti treats come      
        from label regular 1Dan and Rai Scott who makes her bow with the       
      suitably titled 'Depth Of The Ocean' which might just be the pick of     
                                the tracks here!
