Ian Person was one of the guitarists/songwriters in the much acclaimed Union
Carbide Productions. During the past decade he has hold the same position with
one of swedens greatest rockbands ever, The Soundtrack of Our Lives. This is his
solo debut. It was originally intended as the soundtrack for a new tv-series. It
is hereby presented in its own right.
Highly recommended solo-debut from Ian Person, IFK Goteborg hooligan and
guitarist for The Soundtrack of Our Lives (and the legendary Union Carbide
Productions before them). Not surprisingly Ian offers brilliantly crafted songs,
peerless guitar-wrangling, and a rapturous Beatlesque vibe...the surprise is a
wondrous West Coast pop sound strewn among these diamonds, more than we would've
guessed! Achingly beautiful "Lone Summer Dream" popsongs, every one of them
amazing, we couldn't be more thrilled for the wee man in the pointy boots. And
of course his TSOOL comrades are all over this effort: Ebbot sings backing and
arranges the choir, Mattias plays bass, Martin plays all manner of piano and
keys, Frederik drums, and Kalle helps in the mixdown. Interestingly, there are
many tracks here that parallel fellow (but former) TSOOL/UCP guitarist Bjorn
Olsson's instrumental alchemy; a handful lush acoustic interludes (this was
after all originally recorded as a film score) that come off as pastoral and
pretty and summery psychedelic as can be. Yet another incredible release by the
Gravitation label, home to Bjorn Olsson's seafood series, Elope, Spring In
Paris, etc.
