Welcome to T H E release of a clubbing lifetime!

Here are, together for the first time, nearly all of the cd singles
released on the label PERFECTO from the very beginning up until it
re-organized and started the 48K label. (This means that the new
1999+ stuff is NOT included in this collection)
(CD Listing is at the end of this document)

HiSTORY:
--------
Back in the beginning of the 90's i started to listen to
club/dance/techno music. I also started buying a lot of
English magazines (Muzik, MiXmag etc) and started to
learn about this (for me) new culture. I soon realized
that there was one radio channel i should listen
to if i liked this sort of musik; BBC Radio 1. Only problem
was i was quite far from the UK and without any chance of
listening to that station. UNTIL my gf's parents bought a
satellite dish and i discovered that Radio 1 was broadcasted
on satellite radio!.
I brought a vcr and went to my gf's parents one friday night...
After a fair bit of "tweaking" the satellite system i suddenly heard
a voice talking about "this weeks new tracks.." - it was Pete Tong
and i was like a child on christmas eve.
The minute after i got it to work he played a single he said he
just had gotten out of the studio of mr. Paul Oakenfold. It had
no proper name and even the artist was not clear. (it was
"The Single - Rise" which i recently released as a vinyl single)

***That was the start of my love of the Perfecto label and the
***Oakenfold/Osborne collaborations.

After that i always bought all of the cd singles i could find from
the label. Mind you, that was no easy task since they never got
released in the country i live, so i have to import everyone of
the cd singles.

Also, as the Perfecto team is excellent remixers there's so much
other cds you need to buy if you are a serious collector which
can be somewhat of a disaster to your economy. But all worth it
believe me!
---

Included in this collection you'll also get a lot of great remixes
from the likes of Man With No Name, BT, Tilt etc which makes this
release even more valuable for the serious clubber :)

Since that day mr Oakenfold has become one of the worlds biggest DJs
and is known all over the world. His partner, Steve Osborne, isn't
exactly lazy either. He's producing alot of stuff ranging from
movie soundtracks (ex. "The Insider") to English indie bands (Suede
etc.)

I'll hope all that downloads this release will realize what a
treasure chest this is and enjoy it like I have so many times
until now!
Cheers,
// FreaK|NiK / MiNDSCAPE

iNFORMATiON ABOUT OAKENFOLD / PERFECTO ETC :
--------------------------------------------
Over the last ten years, Paul has become the singularly most influential DJ to
come out of this genre and filter through into the mainstream. His clubs and his
music - from Grace's high house to Virus' underground trance, his DJing - from
Cream to U2's world tour, his remixes - for Stone Roses and Happy Mondays to
Snoop Doggy Dogg, his record labels Perfecto and Fluoro, all embrace his
eclectic tastes and have deepend his influence over the evolution of youth
culture. When he DJs, Paul has 10,000 records to choose from. One tenth of
these are movie soundtracks. He loves the emotions and visions they provoke with
their magnificient strings and spooked sounds: tripping you out, like the best
trance music. It's all part of the same thing. It's not just about DJing to bpms
but key and melody. So it goes without saying that Paul Oakenfold wouldn't put
out yet-another-dance-compilation featuring the same tracks that everybody else
has been playing to death. Inspired by his Radio One Goa mix for which he won an
award, the 'Perfecto Fluoro' album is more like his album than a mix CD. It
doesn't contain music just from the dance scene: nine of the pieces are from
movies; there's Terrorvision and Bjork too; while many of the tracks are
exclusive to this album.
What it is all about though, is trance, his love of the genre reflected through
Fluoro and his trips to the East. This is music: layered, with additional keyboards
and production within the mix, and clever use of vocals; that takes you from dancefloor
bliss-outs to Indian riverbanks, from childhood reflection, to heartbreak and leaves
you on a stable high. Why not stay in one night and try it because you won't find
anything quite like it in clubland? And here's some subtitles from Paul, as he says,
"This is my own movie"

THE Paul Oakenfold TiMELiNE :
-----------------------------
Jan 1981: Having been introduced to DJ-ing at Rumours Wine Bar in London's Covent Garden,
Oakenfold relocates to New York for a year and expands his musical horizons.
Jan 1983: He returns to London and works for Champion Records, where he signs Salt'n'Pepa
and Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince.
Jan 1984: He spends the summer DJing in Ibiza and on his return to London
starts the club Funhouse. It fails badly. Despite being dyslexic,
he writes a hip-hop column in the magazine Blues And Soul, under the name Wotupski.
Jan 1987: After further DJing spells in Ibiza, he starts a club called The Project
in south London and goes on to launch the legendary Spectrum night at
London's Heaven, which helps kick off the whole acid house scene and
imports Balearic-style clubbing to the UK.
Jan 1988: Together with producers Rob Davies and Steve Osbourne, he begins
releasing singles under the name Electra that include 'Amnesia'
(named after the Ibizan club), 'Dance With The Devil' and 'The Future'.
Jan 1989: They release the Giorgio Moroder-sampling single 'Autumn Love' and
the anthemic 'Jibaro'. Weatherall and Osbourne also produce a dancefloor
remix of 'Wrote For Luck' for the Happy Mondays. They then launch
the label Perfecto and release singles by the likes of Carl Cox and Robert Owens.
Oct 1990: Oakenfold co-produces the Happy Mondays album 'Pills'n'Thrills And Bellyaches',
          which charts at UK #4.
Feb 1991: Oakenfold and Osbourne win the BRIT award for Best Producer for
their work with the Mondays. The duo go on to remix for New Order,
Massive Attack, The Shamen, Arrested Development and
Michael Hutchence among others, often under the trademark Perfecto.
Jan 1992: Oakenfold DJs regularly at Ministry Of Sound in London.
Jan 1993: Oakenfold is hired by U2 as the warm-up DJ for their Zooropa
world tour, the first time a DJ has supported a rock band. He
spends 18 months on the road with them and also remixes the
stadium rocker 'Even Better Than The Real Thing'. He goes on to
support live gigs by INXS, The Orb, Simply Red, Boy George and Primal Scream.
Jan 1994: Oakenfold is hired as an A&R consultant by east west Records.
He uses it as an opportunity to relaunch his Perfecto label
with the single 'Reach Up' by Perfecto Allstarz. It is followed
later in the year by BT's 'Embracing The Sunshine' and Grace's 'Not Over Yet'.
Oct 1994: He releases the single 'Rise'.
Jan 1995: The compilation album 'Perfection' collects together his best
Perfecto tracks. After DJing in Goa, he launches the trance label Perfecto Fluoro.
Apr 1996: 'The Essential Mix: Volume 4' featuring an Oakenfold Radio 1
set is released on fffr Records. He also releases the trance collection 'Fluoro'.
Jan 1997: More in demand than ever and now arguably the world's most high-profile
DJ, Oakenfold is featured on a number of mix albums, including
'Global Underground: Oslo', 'Fantazia Presents the House Collection'
and 'Cream Anthems 97'. He sets up the label Perfecto Red,
on which he releases material by Little Louie Vega among others.
Jan 1998: The mix album 'Global Underground: New York' is released.
Jan 1999: Oakenfold ends his long-running residency at Cream and Virgin
releases the album 'Resident: Two Years Of Oakenfold At Cream' to mark the event.
Dec 1999: He performs on millennium night at Don Valley Stadium, Sheffield.
Jan 2000: Mix albums featuring Oakenfold released in the course of the year
include 'A Sample From Essential Selection Vol 1',
'All Star Breakbeats Vol 2', 'Perfecto Presents...Another World'
          and 'Perfecto Presents...Paul Oakenfold Travelling'.
Nov 2000: In a major profile in The Times newspaper, he says that he gets
asked to do between five and seven remixes every week, but only
takes "one every other month". He also says that he plays "no more"
than seven gigs a month so that people "are still happy to see you".
Nevertheless, he reveals that in November he is due to play in Beijing,
          Shanghai and Kuala Lumpur.
Dec 2000: Oakenfold performs at the party to mark the closure of the controversial
          Millennium Dome in Greenwich.
