especial records, osaka, japan. this fairly recent label (with only
three releases so far) has already become one of the top references
when talking about the recent waves of nu jazz music. why? because
shuya okino and yoshihiro okino, the kyoto jazz massive duo, own
it. enough said?
hajime yoshizawa, one of the members of the group cosmic village
(together with the okino brothers and masato nakamura), delivers
the second release on this label (the first being the now rare
'sleepwaker - resurrection'). 'secret flight' is a wonderful
journey through jazz accompanied by bossa-nova-ish brazilian voices
that will certainly make you smile.
on the remixing duties is hajime yoshizawa himself with the amazing
'west tokyo mix' and the west-london head, 4hero member and owner
of the 2000 black label, dego/pavel kostiuck (same person) who
grabs the original's essence and mixes it with the creativity of
the west-london broken beat.
this one is essential. shouts to the kjm brothers for letting this
one out.
