█░ alter-ego Slicker, appropriately titled "The Latest". ░█
█░ Hughes' minimalist approach to electronic music is intact, ░█
█░ but this time around it appears that elements of melody, ░█
█░ vocal and organic sound pervade the mix more than ever. ░█
█░ Since his debut Slicker record "Confidence In Duber" (not ░█
█░ counting last years album of remixes), Hughes has been quite ░█
█░ busy with running his Chicago label Hefty, releasing the ░█
█░ most recent Aluminum Group record, collaborating with Matmos ░█
█░ (the results of which appear here), reissuing jazz records ░█
█░ by famed trombonist Phil Ranelin and both scoring (Scarlet ░█
█░ Diva) and supervising music for films (Reach The Rock). ░█
█░ These influences and aspirations have had a great effect on ░█
█░ Hughes' own sonic explorations as this newest work attests. ░█
█░ Programmed with a harder edge, "The Latest" holds up as an ░█
█░ experimental electronic record, but also as one with tracks ░█
