│ flemish hiphopband 't Hof van Commerce! │░

│ The new single, "It's just begun", a cover of the "The Jimmy Castor │░
│ Bunch" funk classic, is out and available on a 12" vinyl record. It │░
│ also contains a cover of "Stakker Humanoid", and two versions of the │░
│ song "Last Night", which will also be featured on the │░
│ "Fortification" full-cd, in stores june .... OUT NOW :) │░

│ 4T4 was born March 26th 1973 as Kristof Michiels in Leopoldsburg. │░
│ He's been deejaying, producing, and simply active as a musical │░
│ artist since 1987. │░
│ His first platform was hiphopmusic (which in those times included │░
│ house, funk and whatnot...). During that time he was involved in a │░
│ number of projects, sometimes as MC, sometimes as DJ. By the │░
│ beginning of the 90's, when he moved from his (then) hometown of │░
│ Hasselt to Gent to study graphic design, he became more actively │░
│ involved in more than just rapmusic, most notably in a couple of │░
│ rock/rap crossover bands. Since then he roamed Flanders (the dutch- │░
│ speaking part of Belgium) many a times as partydeejay, playing │░
│ tasteful hits and general partyjams. He was often asked to come and │░
│ scratch it up in a diverse array of groups and projects. │░
│ In 1996 he released his first record, "Do you believe in Magick?", │░
│ under the name of Magik Ballet Ensemble, which, along with its │░
│ successor "What do you mean", gained him critical acclaim, but the │░
│ greater succes only came in '98, when the Prophets of Finance, one │░
│ of the crossoverbands mentioned before (in which he was the dj), │░
│ turned into the flemish hiphopband 't Hof van Commerce, with his │░
│ fellow companions Serge Buyse and Flip Kowlier. They have scored big │░
│ with 4 albums and a number of singles since then, with sales and │░
│ succes topping some of the biggest pop/rockbands in Belgium. │░
│ Around the year 2000 the interest in dancemusic took the upperhand │░
│ over the hiphop-oriented occupations, with the exception of the │░
│ activities with 't Hof, of course. This manifested itself in two │░
│ ways: as a deejay he would no longer use the criterium "how hot is │░
│ this record with the masses", as to rather determine his selection │░
│ on sheer quality, and also chose a more specific direction and │░
│ personality as a party-dj. The other was Ultrasonic (7), a soulful │░
│ danceproject featuring vocalists Tom Derie and Nia Saw, and tech- │░
│ wizzard Uwe Teichert, which scored hugely on a national level with │░
│ the hit "Lips They Move" in 2003, and, to a lesser extent, hits such │░
│ as "Where you at?", "This Life", "Soul Power" and "All in me". The │░
│ group was 8 strong on stage, with very memorable sets on some of the │░
│ biggest festivals in Belgium. │░
│ Come 2005, the whole Ultrasonic-thing had grown over 4T4 (who had by │░
│ now already set up HQ in Brussels) his head and distantiated itself │░
│ much too far from his original ideas and intentions, so this group │░
│ was buried despite (or maybe according to) its succes. Work on the │░
│ very first real 4T4-record, "Fortification", started, come what may. │░
│ This record still includes some of the original Ultrasonic 7 cast │░
│ and ideas, but also incorporates many well-known as well as more │░
│ obscure guests. It sticks closer to his own musical experience and │░
│ has a more untangeable and sharper edge to it, compared to what │░
│ Ultrasonic 7 had to offer. Back to basics... │░
│ This would also mark the beginning of a new and improved era for his │░
│ dj-carreer, founded in a firmly grounded personal belief in what │░
│ makes bodies move, feet shuffle and harts rejoice; a party engine │░
│ finally finetuning his particular idiom to the beat on the │░
│ dancefloor like swiss clockwork, at a time when he has come full │░
│ circle, and what he does could very well be described as oldschool │░
│ hiphop, but let's not... Somehow, that just wouldn't sound the way │░
│ it's supposed to. │░
│ Expect everything and nothing but butts to shake. Thinking out of │░
│ the box required. │░
