La Funk Mob's Mo' Wax debut. Recut backcat style from one of Mo Wax's most
understated and wised-up Mobsters. Within such an increasingly well-stacked
genre, La Funk have carved themselves a distinct and distinguished style,
opting for a well-crafted minimal groove where beats are heavy but spare, and
neat, funky riffs drop in and out of the mix in total harmony with one another.
La Doctresse is worth your wedge alone for it's rare b-line and its insistent
party cool, whilst Ravers Suck Our Sound and Get Fuck may not be perfect
English, but it's damn near a classic in its own time.
Mo' Wax returns from its hiatus with a vengeance. You could tell
that La Funk Mob was a force to be reckoned with from their work with MC
Solaar, but this was again something new for Mo' Wax. A lot of the jazzy
crowd thought this was not jazzy enough, but for the beat heads it works.
Every song on here is a winner, some maybe a little too long, but they all
got the beat and the groove.
