     Suzanne Vega was among the first major figures in the bumper crop of female
     singer/songwriters who rose to prominence during the late 80's and 90's.
     Her hushed, restrained folk-pop and highly literate lyrics (inspired
     chiefly by Leonard Cohen, as well as Lou Reed and Bob Dylan) laid the
     initial musical groundwork for what later became the trademark sound of
     Lilith Fair, a tour on which she was a regular.

     On "An Evening Of New York Songs And Stories", Vega revisits familiar songs
     in her repertoire, as well as some hidden gems. It's actually a live
     recording, made at New York's Cafe Carlisle (in March 2019) on which she
     is backed by longtime guitarist, Gerry Leonard (who is amazing with Vega on
     stage), bassist Jeff Allen and keyboardist Jamie Edwards. The album was
     produced by Gerry Leonard, mixed by Kevin Killen and mastered by Grammy
     Award winner, Bob Ludwig.
