Diversions are not diverting from the heart of the dance one bit right
now. Hot on the heels of Miguel Lobo's 'Physical Things EP' last month
comes another new signing for Nicolas Masseyeff and Oxia's ever-
bubbling Diversions imprint: Lewis Jimenez.
Since emerging on Nic Fanciulli's Saved in 2016, instantly receiving
sup-port from Pete Tong, Lewis's trajectory has been rapid. Gradually
amassing a sterling body of groove-laden work on labels such as 303
Lovers, Little Festival and Underground Audio, he now strikes down on
Diversions with three glistening, mesmerising work-outs that fit and
flex perfectly across the house/tech axis.
'The Drop' sets the pace. Thumping with a technoid edge, it subtly
builds into a sparkling, uptempo piece illuminated by trippy cascading
elements that are amplified by a classic McKenna schooling.
'Dialogue' follows with a touch of Winkian theory as a single tone is
used so hypnotically, gradually developing and twisting harmonically,
