For his third in a solid sequence of EPs for 2020, Riddim Fernandez
hits yet another stride, focusing an acute, inscrutable methodology.
Opening with a characteristic punchy roller, 'Chronical' sets up a
fierce dark motion from the opening percussion hits. Deep subs and
half time dub breaks instantly blast off and hold steady throughout
this charged intro.
Riddim Fernandez has a knack for dreamy emotional dubscapes that evoke
a strong sense of longing. This instrumental dub of 'People You
Shoulda Known' may be the strongest example yet of his beautiful,
aching signature vibe.
'Juke Steppin' picks up the mood instantly and incites some fierce,
focused bass drones and pulverizing grooves under an unimposing
atmosphere that alternates from light, fluffy and airy, to mysterious
and menacing.
'Moonlight Dancehall' continues a floor-focused pace, psychedelic
echoes and soundclash elements injected through a sparse and scattered
set of dancehall beats.
