Initiate records kicks off its journey as a label with "Schatz", a
mighty 8 track release representing their sound and musical direction
to perfection. "Schatz" means treasure in German and we are on a
treasure hunt for deep music moving away from trends of instant
gratification.
From broken beats to techno, Initiate loves rich dub infused textures,
complex poly-rhythmic patterns and good old sound system science bass
body feels, and this release does all that!
"Schatz" is the track that gave the EP its name. It's a hardy 170bpm
tribal workout, layered with dubby pads and propelled by a galloping
bassline. Following is Plunderer - a pirate of a track with a howling
bassline reminiscent of DnB goodness and atmospheres taking you far
away in the ocean.
Fantasie ties the marauding tracks together with a smokey drone
floating above the ocean.
This release is accompanied by 4 great remixes. Hypnotic techno
