"MΘcanosphΦre is a diasporic unit which intricates hand made breaks with free
sonic music blast and spoken-word sound poetry. Transgenic, musically and
geographically, MΘcanosphΦre transplants and recycles languages from odd hip-hop
bass heavy dub to violent free-rock, noise-jazz, melting them into one retro
futuristic sensibility. MΘcanosphΦre blurs the borders between formal genres &
methods, though keeping in accordance to practical laws of the nerve: bass, live
looping dubbed over percussive instrument circuits, analogue dirt, multiple drum
sets and a frenzied constellation of jazzed down noises and words. In its
present incarnation, MΘcanosphΦre is an extensive French-Portuguese-North
American group with physical headquarters in Portugal and a double identity due
to simultaneously belonging to a local scene (the use of Portuguese language in
most of its lyrics sets MΘcanosphΦre naturally in the sphere of Portuguese
musical culture and territory) and to a wider global noise/rock/experimental
circuit, consequent of its diasporic essence. The band of Benjamin BrΘjon and
Adolfo Lux·ria Canibal that also features Scott Nydegger, Le Pilote Rouge,
Henrique Fernandes and a special guest performance by Steve Mackay (Stooges) is
currently introducing a new show promoting their fourth record.
ôOn stage happens a highly exciting and hallucinating creativity that leaves the
assistance with a pressing desire that all should start again from the
beginning, with the certainty that nothing can repeat itself.ö
