Here's something to get the juices of every 1990s NYC house fan
salivating: an album-length exploration of the DAT archives of Son of
Sound man Henry Maldonado from a time when he used to record for MAW
Records and Strictly Rhythm as Rhythm Section and House 2 House
respectively. It's naturally all top-notch, though we're particularly
enjoying the hazy jazz-house bump of "Smokin' Lounge (1993 Version)",
the swirling gospel-house/soulful house fusion of the superb "Do You
Know (1998 Dub Version)", the rolling deep house posivity of "Magic
(1994 Version)" and the disco-sampling, DJ Sneak-ish bustle of "Music
IS (1997 version)".
