Keeping with their run of reissuing lost or overlooked classics from
legendary DC label Black Fire, Strut presents the first full
international release of Southern Energy; the only album ever recorded
by the R&B, jazz, funk and soul collective, Southern Energy Ensemble.
Recorded in 1977 and featuring the likes of trumpeter Marvin Daniels,
disco drummer and percussionist William Johnson - to a host of other
names worth looking up like Nat Lee, Adolphus Maples and vocalist
Judith Spears - Southern Energy Ensemble presents a funky, freeform
and a peak time lounge expression of jazz funk energy. Check out "Open
