Fans of David Bowie and Kraftwerk should check this out.
Without compromise or worries of having "the single" for pop radio,
Fearful Symmetry continues synthesizing its way through the ever
crowded world of electronic music. Led by industry veteran Jimmy P.
Brown II who is the former brainchild for 90's ethereal metal band
Deliverance, Fearful Symmetry is caught between the elusive world of
dance music and a re-birth of 80's synth pop topped off with a very
European industrial edge.
Musically
With the intro, "Don't Be Afraid," the album sets off with a haunting
and exhilarating album that will capture your heart and ears. I really
don't know a way to do this album justice in my explanation of the
sound and style. All of the album is a techno induced style with
touches of pop and industrial styling. There are touches of the German
techno style of Kraftwerk to the pop synth David Bowie era with touches
of Rammstein. "A Loss of Balance: is a great techno dance type number
with many of the vocal styles still giving it that harder industrial
feel. "Love My Way" "Once Again" definitely have a new wave style about
it styled with touches from the early 80's. "Tikkun" has more of a dark
and heavy techno feel with deep driving bass lines. "Offering" is a
heavy bass induced techno track with very unique synth styles that will
blow your speakers away. "The Waters of Alexandria" is a relaxing
techno track that sounds like something you would hear at a planetarium
or Epcot Center. A couple of bonus tracks are also thrown in with a
heavier industrial feel on "Belltown." With 13 tracks in total and many
of them coming in about 5 minutes in length, you are getting your feel
of high quality techno induced transient music.
Lyrically/Vocally
Jimmy P. Brown II has a mysterious and calming vocal presence on this
album. The vocal style mixes David Bowie and the Cure with a haunting
gothic style that mixes well with the musical style. Many of the lyrics
are haunting and poetic as the voice that sings them. Songs dealing
with hypocrisy, a fear of falling from grace, searching for restoration
and other heart felt topics line this album. The artist is a Christian
and the songs are written with that being the basis. The lyrics are
written in much more metaphor and poetic verses than "Christianese"
words.s
If you are a fan of techno with touches of goth and industrial style,
then you should really check out Fearful Symmetry.
