On the second volume of his Percussion series, Talismann proves again
his mastery of percussive techno. "Xilverback" opens the release in
frenetic form, with grating riffs and high-paced drums setting the
pace. On "Trixe", he maintains the same tempo, but shrouds the raw
tribal drums in waves of droning textures, making for a mesmerising
track. Both "Xex" and "Vooxoo" are more stripped back, with niggling
percussion married to dubbed out drums. Meanwhile, he goes deeper on
"Alexander", which teems with bubbling acid lines and tranced out
riffs - before he ends up heading to then outer limits with the spaced
out "Hoxe". Both are deeply hypnotic tracks that underlines the fact
that while this series is focused on percussion, it's also about the
elements around them.
