Mr Green is in a rich vein form at the moment, one made all the
better because he's going his own way on every production. The
infrequent yet brilliant Modal Music reaches release number five with
Brennan's "Cool Ranch" EP. Like those orphan kittens that sometimes
get adopted by a dog and grows up thinking it's a puppy, "Bunko
(Edit)" is another of those house records that doesn't think it's a
house record, but isn't quite a disco record or a punk funk record or
a Balearic record either. Whatever, it's a delightfully perky thing
at just under ten minutes long. Almost as long is the B-side track
"Divisadero", a much more casual piece of mid-tempo Balearica to
soothe even the most wired of minds.
