■ Release Notes ■
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
PROPER:
One quick message to -Unleashed, nice job on properly labeling those
emulator-images in the ISO-Game section. It's about time someone started
to correctly identify releases so we all know which are REAL CLONES
(burnable duplicates of the real physical CD) versus crappy images files
that can only be used with emulator programs. Nice job, and the rest of
those "clone/EMU" groups should take note and fix their shitty releases
(and their misleading DirNames).
We support the -Unleashed naming scheme of EMUCD/EMUDVD as we've been
yelling about for almost a year now, in our DOX Reports.
Back in world of 0DAYs, observe a previous release:
06-22-2006 Kennys.Adventure.v1.0.UNLOCKER.REPACK-Unleashed
TNT releases this PROPER for 2 reasons and btw reason #2 was a lucky
bonus found by mistake.
Reason #1:
----------
Filenames...
Ok, here's the deal. Going back to even the 1980s, the scene has had
rules for the naming of files.
Rule #1 is that all 0day section releases must be packed with the .ZIP
(PKZip) format. No exceptions. No .RAR, no .ACE, no .EXE, no .UHA.
Gimme ZIP or gimme DEATH!
Rule #2 is that all releases (and this should be for ALL SECTIONS that
take stuff only in ZIP and/or RAR format such as 0day / pda / ebooks /
console / ISO / lame-Movies) are subject to a "8.3" character limit.
To enlighten all the newbies out there, this means that all archive
filenames must be ~at Most 8 characters long~ before the period and also
~at Most 3 characters~ long after the period.
Such as: 1234567.ZIP
or : 87654321.RAR
And yes again to all the *Newbies* out there, it is not an ~exact~ 8.3
rule. You are allowed to use less than 8 for the base and less than 3
for the extension. "8.3" is just the MAX limits, not the EXACT lengths
required. I stress this becomes some kid nukers having been bombing
other groups' releases for being 7.3 length, which is pure bullshit.
Go read a history book on the scene or something if you don't know wtf
you are doing.
For those who wonder why this rule exists when they live in the year 2006
where most new Operating Systems (and structures within CD/DVD images)
permit filenames of up to 128 or 255 or even greater character limits.
Well, it is tradition to keep compatibility with Macintoshes (MAC OS),
DOS, and even the few remaining BBS systems (both Dial-up and the newer
Telnet ones which STILL TAKE 0DAY RELEASES).
You may think that it is silly in this day and age to still unwaveringly
obey this LAW. However, all 0day groups still obey the rule, as do most
of the respected ISO cracking groups (but many crap clone and
emulator-image groups do not obey it - cause they are ignorant noobs).
You may not see releases nuked for these reasons on any of your sites.
However, that is because you are on shitty sites such as public, rented,
and crappy sites. At those places, kids are running the show who don't
even know about the scene rules and thus don't nuke much of anything.
At the higher levels of the scene (you know, where all the affils on the
site are not newbie groups who are less than 1-year-old who steal serials
and steal keygen code and release tons of obvious dupes, fakes, broken,
expiring, and minor update crap), yah well there at those higher levels,
Nukers still nuke for violation of those filename rules.
When such a release is nuked based on those rules (and even for other
rules such as incorrect versions listed in the dirname or other bad
dirnames), other groups can and WILL release propers of the nuked release.
*** File of the -Unleashed unlocker listed above:
unl-ka10u.zip
123456789.123
Boom, 9.3, violating the 8.3 rule. NUKED and now PROPERED. Sorry guys.
Btw Unleashed, all of those previous ones which I assume were in RAR
format never even spread to any sites. So we had no idea of your
Steam Brigade unlocker since it was nowhere to be seen on 0day sites nor
in 0day dupecheckers. And even if it had been, it would have been nuked
for not being in ZIP format. Some elite sites even run scripts that only
accept ZIP files in the 0day section.
Now, if you wonder how TNT and other groups consistently produce 8.3
filenames and never anything longer. No we don't count the # of
characters for every single release. It is way to error prone especially
when you lack sleep, have headaches, and/or are drunk off your ass. It
is with release packing tools/scripts. Our scripts use PKZIP.EXE for DOS
to pack all releases. Even if we somehow feed the scripts a filename
longer than 8.3, the DOS PKZIP program auto-truncates the filename to 8.3
with no effort or checking needed on our part. Easy as pie :)
Reason #2 (yah another reason for the PROPER, who could have thunk it!)
---------
Try this.
1. Install the game fresh
2. unRAR the -Unleashed unlocker to your game directory
3. Start the game
4. It asks you to enter a name (for a new profile)
5. You must enter a name to continue, you have no choice my ugly friend
6. You arrive at the Main Menu
7. Click "Start Game", my friend
8. Hmm, nothing is unlocked and you are put into Level #1
9. You could complete it if you want and then quit the game and then
restart it and good job for you cause you now have an unlocker with
only Levels #1 and #2 unlocked
a. What happened was that the Unleashed unlocker was overwritten by your
newly named profile.
* This problem will not occur with the TNT release.
Not a hard mistake to do what -Unleashed did. They just needed one more
file that controls whether or not any profiles are already created. A
mistake many groups have made in the past.
Conclusion:
-----------
Another long-ass TNT nfo file full of self-righteous boasting and quoting
of "scene rules" and telling other people what to do. Well, the scene
ain't nothing but a tattered-looking shadow of what it used to be. It
sucks, is insecure, full of thieves that get away with it (and are given
2nd 3rd 4th 5th.. 100th chances to keep coming back after repeatedly
stealing), and is being run by noobs (even at the highest levels).
Nonetheless, we tiredly strive for 100% working, quality releases and
herein present you with a .ZIP format unlocker release with a 8.3 (max)
filename which is also 100% working.
Enjoy, and not an attack directed at Unleashed, but mearly a NFO file
to inform them (AND ALL OTHER GROUPS) of the filenaming rules so that
hopefully all these competing groups don't get nuked again for such
rule violations.
And yes we know that no matter how many NFOs we write, no matter how many
people read them and spread the word, no matter how many people agree
with them and think that it is time for a change:
YES WE KNOW THINGS WILL NEVER CHANGE BUT WE WILL CONTINUE THESE NOTICES.
...just for the sake of saying, we did it! cause it needed to be said!
so cya later...
0day Unlockers, Cheat Codes, & Trainers:
Seeing as how many users do NOT have 0day/ access older than 6 months, we
will continue releasing Unlockers/Cheat Codes/SaveGame Editors/Trainers
(which we will refer to by using the term '0day-dox') for updated versions of
0day-section game releases.
The oddity about this is that even if older 0day-dox still work perfectly on
the new game versions, we will still put out a new set of 0day-dox
specifically tagged for the new game version. The new 0day-dox will also be
tested to make sure they work properly for a new game version, even if they
are 100% the same files as a previous version's dox.
We use a "6-month Minor Update rule" so as not to flood the hell out of the
scene. This means that we will wait until 6 months (calendar time) from the
PRE date of the previous 0day-dox. By 'calendar time', an example is that 6
months after January 02 2005 will be July 02 2005. Six months, not 180 days,
to avoid archaic calculations. After that time, we will wait AGAIN for a new
version of the game. We will NOT use new game versions that came out during
the 6 month waiting period. When a brand new game version is PRE-released
after the 6 months of waiting, we will release new 0day-dox for it as needed.
Of course, MU rules do not affect Major Version updates, such as when a
program goes from v3.92 to v4.00. We always make new dox for Major Version
changes, regardless of the amount of time (even if 3.92 came out 1 day ago).
--------
zipscript-c (aka project-zs) ruins all the nice SFV files in the scene!
Screw that lame-ass retarded script and all you noobies who use it.
Egotism is good in small doses.
There is nothing wrong with flaming code/crack thieves. We encourage it.
Quality and quantity are both possible simultaneously, yet often difficult.
We continue our journey...
