What do you get when you mix a long winter with a pandemic of a lifetime
and a bunch of synths lying around? The cabin fever stemming from an
endless lockdown and the resulting mental demise? According to Vexillary,
the perfect backdrop for a sonic self-portrait documenting one’s brush
with madness.
Vexillary’s first proper full-length album after a steady string of EPs is
the result of such experiment. Working around the clock often through long
caffeine fueled sessions, Vexillary took on a method actor’s approach to
lock himself into the manic state needed to arrive at the intense sound
suggested by the title of the record.
After the conceptual, SurViolence EP, Vexillary wanted to create a
personal record as a form of therapy to examine the darkest parts of his
own psyche. The resulting 8 tracks that shape the record document the
demise of a protagonist from flirting with madness and burnout, all the
way to the point of total nervous breakdown and mania.
The record features guest vocalists WARTERAUM (on ‘Scent of Torture’) and
La Strange (on ‘The Descent’) in addition to Vexillary taking on different
vocal duties to inject each track with a different personality and
represent various layers of Vexillary’s demented mind.
But it’s not all doom and gloom as the record ends on a beautiful note in
‘Exit the Void’ to suggest a new beginning, or is it a celebration of a
cruel end? You’ll have to listen to the full album to come to your own
conclusion as there is way more than meets the mind in the twisted world
of Full Frontal Lunacy.

Vexillary is the brainchild of the New York-based producer Reza Seirafi.
His diverse work is seeded with a singular undercurrent of gloom and
shaped by his unique scientific approach to production.
As a chemist and perfumer, Reza was fascinated by the secret bonds between
unrelated chemical ingredients that create well-balanced, other-worldly
scents. Reza’s music making process follows the same philosophy, as he
magically blends unrelated musical parts to create his own brand of
decadent Industrial and techno music. On his production style, Reza has
noted“key changes and odd chords are all over my stuff, connecting
seamlessly where they shouldn't. There's some magic to it that can’t be
explained.”
But Vexillary’s music is far from formulaic, and his records are proof of
that. His debut EP for Blaq Records, Chemica Divina, was a conceptual
record exploring the themes of chemical sciences and their link to the
divine. On his recent EPs, CrossFire and The Brutalist, Reza takes on
classic industrial sounds as ingredients and transmutates them through his
own brand of alchemy to leave a refreshing modern take in his trail.
With his latest releases, SurViolence, and its offshoot, The Geneticist
Remixes EP, he’s now added new conceptual ingredients in the mix to tell
the tale of the unease that we’re all facing as we approach what may seem
to be a dystopian future. Looking into this said future, we can expect
Reza to carry on doing music on his own terms to further cement his place
as a true force in underground music culture. And if his new music is any
indication, that exploration will surely remain out of the ordinary.

Hi chaps! This is the new retrofuturistic "back to the future"
obso-leet AMOK nfo hybridising oldskool ASCII art and YAML.
This nfo is designed to be both human and machine readable.
We also bring a few more things:
- The filenames are appended with ISRC codes disambiguating common
dupechecking problems like remastered and remixed tracks,
transliteration errors, foreign characters...
- id3 tags include a lot more metadata than average releases,
some to name a few:
- extended genres (extracted from last.fm/bandcamp)
- similar artists
- BPM (also shown in the tracklist above)
- URLS for that release on various websites for listeners to
look for more info and to simplify nukers' jobs checking
releases
The schema_version tag allows that nfo format to evolve and stay
compatible. The current schema will be published in the near
future to make sure all .yml.nfo released will use the same
structure and set of keys.
