Hed Kandi is now dead. It's been bought out and taken over by those guys over
at the Ministry of Sound. We all know what that means don't we - piss weak
commercial rubbish just like all the other MOS albums (except the Sessions series
about the only decent thing they do now). The Hed Kandi web site has already
been torn apart whilst those cash grabbing guys at MOS move in, and destroy
what was one of the best labels in the compilation industry (and they had some
darn fine artists on there too).
But now we have Fierce Angel, or Angels - they can't decide!!
Notes:
"In 1998 while working for London radio station Jazzfm I created a record label
called Hed Kandi. Over the next 7 years I compiled over 50 CDÆs, that went on to
sell over 3 million copies. As the team at Hed Kandi grew we scored two top 10
hits with Stonebridge featuring Therese and countless club hits with artists
such as Peyton and Bonnie Bailey. We also released critically acclaimed albums
from Afterlife, 45Dip, Anthea and Late Night Alumni. Our weekends were equally
busy with a radio show on both Jazzfm and Galaxy and countless club events all
over the globe.
In June 2005 I made the difficult decision to leave Hed Kandi and set up a
totally independent label and events company and in February 2006 the Fierce
Angels spread their wings and took flight. I was joined by the amazing
illustrator Jason Brooks, our events manager Nadia Rifaat and a team of the
finest and fiercest DJÆs."
Fierce Angel is the new label from Mark Doyle who created and ran Hed Kandi
until his surprise departure last year. In May, Fierce Angels released their
first compilation "TOKYO DISCO" and swiftly followed it up with "BEACH ANGEL" in
June. All featured exclusive artwork by Hed Kandi's Jason Brooks. Since
February 2006 Fierce Angel has been making it's presence felt on the global
dancefloor with events all over the UK and has already been the subject of a 4
page feature in Mixmag. Fierce Angels now hook up with the hottest address in
Ibiza - HOTEL ES VIVE to present a 3CD mix of the summers hottest anthems.
ES VIVE has established itself as the hottest place to stay since it opened and
alongside the infamous Base Bar provides some of the best hospitality and
atmosphere Ibiza has to offer. Every Saturday afternoon Fierce Angel host Beach
Angel pool parties at Ibiza's coolest boutique Hotel. While Mark worked at Hed
Kandi he was responsible for launching both Base Bar and Es Vive compilations
and since their inception the combined titles have sold over 200,000 copies
worldwide. This year the series is relaunched under Fierce Angel and offers up
it's hottest tracklisting yet. Features 3 Stunning CD's each compiled and mixed
to reflect a different time in the perfect Ibiza day.
CD1 Poolside : An eclectic, sundrenched mix for poolside lounging.
CD2 The Bar : Cool funky house for a night out at the Base Bar.
CD3 After Hours : Electric Cabaret is the Islands hottest after hours bar and
this dark electric mix is the sound of Ibiza in the early hours!
