         █░█    Lullaby Baxter's eclectic and refreshing Garden    █░█
         █░█    Cities of To-morrow is a return that has been      █░█
         █░█    long anticipated. Baxter made her debut in 2000    █░█
         █░█    with Capable Egg (Atlantic/WEA) a collection of    █░█
         █░█    childlike yet knowing songs made especially        █░█
         █░█    compelling by Baxter's smoky, jazz-tinged alto.    █░█
         █░█    Critics were effervescent and, after an eight      █░█
         █░█    night stretch at the 2000 Montreal Jazz Festival,  █░█
         █░█    Baxter was hotly tipped to become a big contender  █░█
         █░█    in North America's jazz and folk scenes. All       █░█
         █░█    manner of far flung tours across North America     █░█
         █░█    and Europe quickly ensued, garnering plaudits      █░█
         █░█    from Spin, Q, Montreal Mirror, Exclaim, Village    █░█
         █░█    Voice, CMJ, Globe & Mail, amongst others.          █░█
         █░█                                                       █░█
         █░█    Although it may seem that Lullaby Baxter has       █░█
         █░█    taken quite a breather between records, in that    █░█
         █░█    time Baxter has become a mother and written a      █░█
         █░█    manifesto entitled Sing Songs for People, all the  █░█
         █░█    while composing and recording material for this    █░█
         █░█    album.                                             █░█
         █░█                                                       █░█
         █░█    Musically, Garden Cities of To-morrow can be seen  █░█
         █░█    as more mature and sophisticated than Capable Egg  █░█
         █░█    while still displaying a similar spirit of         █░█
         █░█    intelligent whimsy and just a hint of              █░█
         █░█    naughtiness. Featuring Susan Cowsill (The          █░█
         █░█    Cowsills) and Jeffery Clemens (G. Love & Special   █░█
         █░█    Sauce), Garden Cities of To-morrow is a            █░█
         █░█    fascinating hybrid of jazz, pop, and folk melded   █░█
         █░█    with a heavy dose of cabaret. From the lilting     █░█
         █░█    jazz skip of "What's Wrong With You?", the         █░█
         █░█    meandering violin and brush snare smokiness of     █░█
         █░█    "Mr. Golden Happiness" to the reverb-heavy organ   █░█
         █░█    of "Jet-Pack". The first single and video,         █░█
         █░█    "Rattle Little Clam", shuffles along a samba beat  █░█
         █░█    while flutes and woodwinds mix with Baxter's       █░█
         █░█    plaintive and gauzy vocals.                        █░█
