The dry funk-inspired electronic sound trademark of the UK
Pussyfoot label never really left me since its essential debut
compilation 'Wall of Pussy' of 1996. Naked Funk is a solid act of
the WoP family bringing space groove on steroids and probably some
psychoactive substances as well. A whole universe on their own,
where instruments meet machines for solid tracks that somehow stay
active long after the record stops.
PS: make sure u get 'Evolution Ending' and the 'Wall of Pussy'
compilation released today as well.
What others have to say:
Grooves heavier than Sumo wrestlers, samples culled from the
bedrooms of the licentious, Gary Glitter's cellphone, passing
submarines and Woodstock, analogue basslines as squelchy as an
octopus orgy, and an unhealthy preoccupation with the paranormal
combine to make Valium the most intoxicating sonic narcotic yet
from the Pussyfoot posse. Naked Funk are synth specialist and
guitarist Jeremy Shaw (part-time player with Tricky, Neneh Cherry
and Palmskin Productions) and Jony Rockstar (programmer and DJ,
half of rap crew G Shock and resident DJ at the Paradise Club) and
I've been hanging out for this long player ever since their Alien
Groove Sensation single left me gobsmacked last year. Tunes like
Pearls of Compassion, Valium, Tressa Lux and You Have Captured My
Liver will become anthems for sweet sherry drinkers and lateral
thinkers everywhere, and you know that means you. Valium is just
the thing for those winter blues. Don't delay, medicate today!
