I'm happy to share this Scan 7 white label 12" as my first vinyl
for kW, since i always kept a personal preference for this less
known Detroit act.
The Scan 7 pair played a completely improvised live set at the Rex
Club - Paris' techno mecca - with only half of their equipment
during a belgium labels night where DJ Pierre, Sebastian S and a
few other representative of late 1997's sound. It was 4 am, a
monday night, as many people had already left to their homes. Then,
after a few ultimate technical problems, all people suddenly stared
at the forefront of the DJ booth and stood up to dance. An
incredible pumping rage was coming out of the Scan 7 duo's minimal
equipment, with a voice that seemed to come from the vaults of
Detroit techno homeland. 20 minutes - 20 short minutes of pure
bliss - making people go off their heads.
A very rare moment. And the first time ever - that i know - there
was a live act at the Rex Club (belgium Sebastian S played live
that evening too). The first time Scan 7 ever played in Europe too.
At last, this 4 tracker doesn't exactly reflect what it's about.
But at least it shows that one doesn't need a studio filled with
the latest expensive equipment to bring solid beats and sounds to
to people's heart and guts.
This is a call to all people who set up events in Europe:
get Scan 7 to come over and play live, give people the real thing !

earlier this month.
PS: Track B2's low sound level and slight surface noise comes from
the vinyl itself. I thought it was better to avoid downgrading the
sound any more. Just removed the obvious crackles.
From the promo leafleft that came with the vinyl:
"Detroit Scan 7 burst out of his mysterious silence in 1995 landing
a place on the Detroit newcomer' compilation, "313". Having at that
time already recorded as Scan 7 for Motor City's mighty Underground
Resistance, and under other 'shadowy' pseudonyms with 430 West and
Direct Hit, Scan 7's name was already well established.
Finally... the long-awaited and rumored reworkings of tracks
selected from Trackmaster Lou's debut album, "Dark Territory"
(Tresor 57), have arrived.
A1's Tension Remix is provided by Hollis kingpin Abe Duque. The
twisted beats and loud cut threaten demolition to all dancefloors
bent on the hard and experimental. Mr. Relaxo has outdone himself
with this hit-and-run 909 barrage.
Fans of A2's "Nempho Juso" Remix will recognize the carnal
presence of this scene's most original hip manipulator, Mr Blake
Baxter. The dark key stabs and deep heat textures will boil down
both Techno and House floors in a writhing skinfest.
Scan 7 himself has given "Shadow Chaser" from last May's "Tresor.5"
compilation the Hidden Territory Studio makeover with full phasing,
pumping Old-school action.
Pacou is the artist behind the "Downgraded" mix redressing "Dark
Corridor's" original in true Berlin style with a tracky trickshow
of techniques: Deep, dark, moody and bumping. Berlin."
