deep hiphop? the concept may not please to hip hop purists but how
else can we describe the music coming from this british group whose
vocalist has one of the most amazing voices we've heard in a long
time?
considered part of the new wave of leftfield groups coming from
britain (where zero7, bent or lemonjelly are also included), spacek
are morgan, who is in charge of the production and is also the
drummer, edmund, the guitarrist and steve, the man with the voice.
this album took them five years to prepare and 2001 will be the
spacek's debut year as part of the spectrum (aren't they already?
gilles peterson has been spinning their stuff for a long time).
their sound is a mixture of hiphop, downtempo and west london
breaks which combined with steve's unique voice make up for an
exquisite album that you'll only be discovering after a few
